Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt had a hard life.
When he was young the tent he was living in caught fire and he lost two fingers. He had to re-learn how to play the guitar, then at the age of 43 had the misfortune to suffer a stroke on a Saturday. By the time they found a doctor who hadn't taken the weekend off, it was too late.
