I had never looked at it that way, but it does fit. The god of the Westboro Baptist Church is angry and unforgiving, the god of Fred Rodgers was patient and kind.

The quote is similar to some things both Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung have said. But before them, the British explorer Richard Francis Burton said, "The more I study religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself."
