Use At Your Own Risk

Today I learned, via Eric Swanger, that:

  • last: ultimate

  • second to last: penultimate

  • third to last: antepenultimate (also propenultimate)

  • fourth to last: preantepenultimate

  • fifth to last: propreantepenultimate

  1. So when I write a list of five things, the first is also the propreantepenultimate? A way of cutting it down to size so it doesn't go around thinking "I'm the first."
